We need to get back to basics. Teachers are paid to teach, not preach; to educate, not manipulate. We do not need to give parents other options or alternative schools. We need to work with what we have. Schools are not daycare centers, and we need to have stronger PTAs and community/parent involvement. We need to have guidance counselors who are not teachers. We need to reward good teachers and weed out the bad ones. Create incentive programs that allow college students who want to be teachers to work to help pay for school.
